I've had no issues with Google maps my entire life, but since I switched over to the pixel 7 and pixel 8 pro I've had such an awful experience. Maybe it's related to the picture-in-picture float mode, but often it will expand itself to full screen and freeze my display requiring a restart, or before I begin navigation even the app will freeze and not allow me to hit start. I run into frustration every time I start the app.

LIST AT A LOSS: In previous versions when you searched for something along your route, it would bring up a map view of the places and where they are on your route, now, it brings up a list view that blocks the map view and you can't dismiss the list view. When you either back button or X out of it, it removes all the search results on the map. Would really like the option to choose one view or the other in order to plan where to stop along the route by sight.

The "immersive view" gets in the way. Normally, I could access street view by clicking the window on the left of the screen. But now, the immersive view is there and there's no way to change it back! Most of the time, immersive view has areas that literally look like a pile of pixels or just blocks of concrete. I can't view details of buildings or signs like business names. In order to still access street view, I have to click on "steps" to pull that up! At least make it easy to disable!
